I have met quite a few nice people while handing out flyers for my campaign at the early voting downtown west polling location. When I first started to run for office I was the only person to work the early voting. Last time I ran it was me and my opponent or one of my opponents volunteers. Now their is a large group of candidates and volunteers working the polls. Most of the people working the polls besides me, Greg "Lumpy" Lambert and some volunteers for Van Hillery are Democrats. The Democrats around here are fired up on the term limits issue and think this may be a golden opportunity for them to grab some county seats.I wonder if they will be as fired up to help beat the Democrat representatives who opposed term limits at the state level last year. We will see.
Yesterday the wife of Instapundit creator Glen Reynolds stopped in to vote and we had a chance to talk briefly.
It is odd we sort of know each other but have never met. I actually have their couch at my house, but that is another story. Her brother is a friend of mine through business (Joe owner of "Cup of Joe" coffee house fame and now "The Half Barrel" on the strip in Knoxville.) He mentioned in the past of their relationship but I pretty much forgot about it until yesterday when we were talking about politics, the net and the future (Lets just say they are going big time). It was nice to be able to put a face with a name.
Other people have mentioned how they read my blog and actually voted for me because of it. I am flattered. I am always pleasantly surprised to find it has a effect besides sending a few English teachers to an early grave.
I really wonder some times how much this blog gets read but I would probably rather not know actual numbers. I guess it is nice to know that a few voters actually read it and the word gets out.
If you vote early in Knoxville feel free to stop by and say hello. The polls are open 10 till 8. I will be their most of the day but will probably leave a little early as I will be the guest on Steve Halls Politics Knoxville tonight on Comcast channel 12 at 8 pm.
