No sooner did I finish my last post then the governors agg man came in to see where I stand on the governors tax and spending proposal. After some back and forth a few things came out that I found quite interesting.
The potential money gained by the governors tax increase is not going to go into education for sure. It is planned to go into the general budget and then possibly into education for this year. Next year and after that, who knows.
The governor refuses to earmark the money to go to education for any period of time.
The governor refuses to cut the tax on food no matter what. I mentioned that I felt strong support to cut the tax on food and was told the governor would veto it if it passed. Good thing the governors veto power is week in Tennessee. I asked what tax the governor would cut if the money were available and was told none of them.
