Jerry Cooper waits until after the deadline to allow an election and then quits the senate. Greg Johnson asks some good questions regarding what the registry could do and will Coopers retirement go toward paying his debt to society. It also comes out that Cooper brought home one last piece of pork for his family and friends.
No word on who will pocket Coopers quarter million in campaign funds. Will it be the registry?, a charity?, the Democrat party? (they love to get dirty donations) or will Cooper just put it in his pocket when people stop paying attention? (as he has a history of doing).
I think people have to question how many times this sort of thing has happened in the past and is it still happening today. TREF has no way to check on if the numbers match what actually is in the bank or if money spent actually goes to who the candidate says it goes to. The only reason his pocketing money came out was because it was exposed by the state in another criminal investigation on Cooper.
It seems the only time big violations get exposed is through outside investigations such as the Tennessee waltz, The Cooper/Wilder dirty land deal, The black caucus dust up. Even in those cases, many times private citizens and fellow legislators had to come forward just to start investigations that were later swept under the rug by the Democrat run ethics board. We should be better able to handle our problems and investigations in house instead of having to wait for the next big federal sting or investigation.
