Gas prices

Gas prices continue to go up. Republicans at the federal level my have finally stumbled across an issue they can get behind that could help pull them up out of the cellar.

At the state level candidate Alex Mosley is already going after Democrat Rep. Jim Hackworth for a bill Hackworth pushed that would increase the state gas tax 80%.

From his web page..
On February 7th, 2005, Rep. Hackworth (D) filed House Bill 1225, which would have changed the state gas tax from a fixed amount per gallon to a percentage of the retail price.

“If this bill had passed, the Tennessee gas tax would be 36 cents per gallon, and climbing, instead of the 20 cents we pay now,” said Alex Moseley.

Here is one artist rendition of the world with the Hackworth gas tax increase.
