The RINOs are restless

The KNS profiles my race as well as the Jerome Cochran/Kent Williams race. Kent is a well known Naifeh sellout. Who is now all but endorsed by the Democrat party and its leadership.

Williams' latest campaign disclosure, covering the period July 1 through July 28, shows two more donations from Democrats - $500 from Rep. Harry Tindell, D-Knoxville, and $250 from Rep. Philip Pinion, D-Union City as well as the $250 contribution from Rep. John Litz, D-Morristown last period.

From the KNS article...

In a recent posting on his blog, Campfield referred to Williams as a member of the "Naifeh shoe shine club" and a "RINO," the acronym for "Republican in name only." Williams was among seven Republicans who last year voted to re-elect Democrat Jimmy Naifeh as state House speaker.

Williams, who is facing his own primary challenge from former state Rep. Jerome Cochran...

........ but that he is not especially offended by some of the attacks.

"I grew up shining shoes, so that's not a big issue with me," he said.....

....Campfield said Williams' support for Leadbetter should be an asset to his re-election campaign.

"It just shows you who the conservative is in this race and who is going to support conservative ideals," said Campfield in an interview.

"A Republican voting for Jimmy Naifeh is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders," he said.

In another article from the JC Press Kent Williams is telling people to shut up when they ask questions and point out facts.

Cochran contrasted how he would handle a vote for speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives with the way his opponent did in 2007.

“If you give the honor of serving as your state representative once again, for my very first vote, I will not be voting for a pro-abortion, pro-income tax, anti-Second Amendment speaker of the House from West Tennessee named Jimmy Naifeh,” he said......

.....“I voted for the liberal speaker, Jimmy Naifeh,” Williams said, to which one person in the audience said that meant the representative was a Democrat.

“And you’re a liar, sir,” Williams immediately shot back. When the man started to talk again, Williams offered him a chance to speak, but the man told the representative to continue.

“I’m not being rude to you,” Williams said. “Do you think maybe you can give me my time and just shut your mouth?”

Sound like a reasonable person willing to work together with people of differing points of view? More like he wants to keep pushing the liberal point of view.
Word is Williams also attacked Republican house floor leader Rep. Brian Kelsey who was sitting quietly in the audience at the event.

Also in the article I caught Williams in a bold face lie.

“I’ve stood up for our values in Nashville,” Williams said at the county GOP’s pig roast Saturday adjacent to the Franklin Club pool. “I’m a co-sponsor on every piece of legislation in the House dealing with our 2nd Amendment rights.

“I’m going to take some legislation this year from some of my colleagues that can’t pass anything in the House that I’m going to get them passed because I know how to work with the people in the House of Representatives.”

I know for a fact that Williams was not a co sponsor on my bill to allow teachers and faculty who have carry permits to be able to carry on campus. It was one of the 4 key pieces of legislation backed and pushed by the NRA. Kent never even talked on gun rights that I know of except to vote for Naifeh to be able to stop all gun bills in committee.

As far as him passing something I think we need to look at what he pushed in the past.
