Today I was in committee and we were being informed on the pending issues facing unemployment insurance. The speaker was UT economics professor Bill Fox. After hearing gloom and doom for about ten minutes I asked the professor, if he studied how the Obama "stimulus" bill was going to help Tennessee and our unemployment issues in the future. I was told things would probably get worse in the short term and then we would probably see little if any improvement at all for at least a few years after that.
So much for fixing the problem. If the "Stimulus" is not going to significantly improve our economy or change our employment situation except in a minimal way please remind me why we need to go into debt so badly.
