"Creation is a myth" Book still going

I just talked with Kurt Zimmermann on the phone about his appearance before the school book review panel. If you do not recall he was the man who protested when one of his children's school books said that that creation is a myth.

The first attempt to stop the book from being used as a student education tool was killed in the first committee it went to. It just came up for appeal to the higher school board committee and after lengthy discussion they put it off for a another month. The move was probably an attempt to get the attention to blow over (I wonder if they know Kurt will be on Fox news national in the morning?)

Kurt said it was quite heated. A few of the board members were for the removal, but others (Probably the majority) were in favor of keeping the book in some form or fashion saying they didn't want to limit teachers.

Funny how that phrase keeps coming up. I seemed to hear that a lot as I presented my bill to say that teachers should not be teaching about homosexuality to very young children. They also seemed stuck on the phrase that it is not happening here.

They kept saying it over and over even though I gave several examples to the contrary. I think they feel if they keep saying it long enough people will believe it.

The TEA knobbiest said that if it was happening teachers would be fired. I won't hold my breath. Why? Well there is no rule against it and I have already offered examples of people who admit they are doing it and nothing happened. Last year I gave several specific examples to the department of education to research. This year they came back and said he never really looked into any of the cases I sighted. I imagine even if someone really pushed the issue they would go before a similar review board that the "creation is a myth" book went through and nothing would happen.

Is there any wonder why home schooling is on the grow?
