The battle leans to Fred

If the battle on tort reform were called today I would say Fred Thompson won. The tort reform bill has been watered down to the point of soup and I am not talkin chunky soup either. More like water soup. Cold water soup at that.

The administration has fallen for the age old trap many new moderate Republicans fall for. Starting at a moderate point and then being forced to give ground. Most every other state that has caps (about 35) set the limit between $250k and $400K. Haslam started his legislation with caps higher ($750K) with the probable hopes it would sail through as reasonable. The problem is, Haslam has not realized he is not dealing with reasonable people. He is dealing with political people.

Big difference.

He now has now conceded to go up to $1.5 million (possibly more in some cases). The caps have gotten so high I don't know know if there have been any cases in recent history that would have even qualified for the cap under the current limits.
I am about at the point where I wonder if it is really worth voting for. Now, for any real difference to be felt they will have to fight to reclaim ground they should not have given up in the first place.

Luckily the game is not over. More to come....I hope.
