Still "Gun-ho"

After the Todd incident many reporters are asking if I plan on retreating on support of 2nd amendment legislation. I see no reason to back up on my support of the constitution or the bill of rights.

  1. For crying out loud, it's not like he got drunk and shot someone.

And for that matter, he hasn't even really gotten any chance to defend himself on the charges.

  2. The issue here should be that he was driving while intoxicated, not that he had a gun in his car.

    Senator Campfield,
Where in the federal Constitution does it say that government has authority to ban guns in any public place?

  3. It doesn't.

But then our 1870 state constitution tries to weasel around by using the words "regulate wearing" as if that is somehow different than "bearing". It cannot do any more than regulate concealment in that case. Of course, you have to remember this is after Abraham Lincoln declared war on the Confederacy, largely destroyed it and you were under martial law at the time. Any state law preventing non-felons from carrying, that is, bearing (concealed or open - one and/or the other) is unconstitutional.
