Employers wanted
-Reducing or eliminating business regulations. (somewhat nebulous)
-Enacting new tort reforms. (Let me suggest my loser pays bill.)
-Modifying workers compensation to make it more competitive with neighboring states. (Possibly one of the worst as well as worst run government programs out there.)and
-Focusing educational institutions on preparing students for in-demand jobs.
I have been hearing some interesting ideas from other countries on that issue. One country (I think it was China) has decided to stop subsidising college majors if the college cant get at least 60% of their graduates jobs in 2 years. Sounds more then reasonable to me. Why are we subsidising (and therefore encouraging kids to get degrees in) majors that will not help them get jobs? While there is no shame in honest work, Do we really need one more out of work deep sea basket weaver asking if we want paper or plastic for our groceries? Do we really need one more out of work interpretive dancer to ask us if we would like the large fry with our combo meal?

Are we really helping kids by telling them to go into debt for tens of thousands of dollars to get out and see there are no realistic job opportunities for them in their degreed field?
