Calling Senator Nicely

Senator Mike Faulk has decided to retire from the state senate at the end of the year siting his desire to care for an aging mother and spend more time at his one person law firm. The legislature can be a tough place to do either one of those things in your off time much less both of them (We are in Nashville Monday through Thursday). Best of luck goes out to him and his family. I am sure many will welcome his sharp mind and warm smile back in Jefferson County as we in Nashville will lament our loss.

That opens up his strongly Republican, mostly rural senate seat for the next election. The districts (just East of Knoxville) top candidate has to be Representative Frank Nicely.
A farmer and land owner by trade Frank has roots that go back generations in the area. His folksy witticism and style (I call it "country cool") mixed with his political experience would be tough to beat in about any race much less the one for the new district.

  1. I disagree with your assessment that Mr.Nicely is the top choice for the state senate seat.Union County Commissioner Jeff Brantley has an arsenal of "mover and shakers" from all over East Tennessee.I checked the list of guest attending the Union County Lincoln Day Dinner for this Saturday night and his tables include a former Governor and two county mayors.

  2. I think that Mr.Nicley will have a rough road ahead. If he thinks that he can beat Union County Commissioner Jeff Brantley. Jeff has owned his own company for 19years. He is a smart business man. He wants what is best for the people. Mr.Brantley will win then this election by far. If the people would start reading and see how much Mr. Nicley has done for them, while in Nashville they would not vote for him. I think he has been a great disappointment to the people and he will get the picture come election. Go,Jeff you will the next State Senator.

  3. If you want a change in Nashville vote for Jeff Brantley. Mr.Brantley has a heart of gold and he want's everyone to be treated equally. I can make you this promise when Commissioner Brantley is elected. We will be able to see the good changes in every county that he represents. Jeff Brantley is a man of his word when the tells you that he will help you he will. I know that he can't change everything at once he gets to Nasville. But you bet the he will be working for every county that he represents. And if there is a problem he will just a phone call away.

  4. Commissioner Jeff Brantley I very happy to know that you are running for State Senator. I know that you have got alot people
in every County supporting you. I know that Mr.Nicley has also came out. But what I have reading from Nashville he hasn't done a good job as State Rep. I kwow that he could never get to be a Senator. If you can't do the job that you aready have. Why try to climb the ladder and get something bigger. Commisssioner Brantley will be the next State Senator due to the fact the Counties that has already been mispresented.I am sorry Mr.Nicley but I would check around before I got into deep.

    2. No insult but 3 comments within an hour a full week after the story first came on line reeks of Astroturf.

  6. Seems to me that Mr. Brantley is desperate for name recognition if the comments in his favor are so close together and so similar in tone. Frank Niceley has name recogition because he has earned it faithfully serving the people of Jefferson County with a conservative record that we know.

      Mr.Oatney,
I am not sure how the postings came in so close, but I appreciate the well wishes of my supporters,as I suppose Rep.Nicely does of yours.I can assure you I am not sounding my own horn.In the end,I too will support the choice of the people,if not elected.I think we have seen enough of bickering in the Republican party in recent month's to last a lifetime.Wishing you and Rep.Niceley's supporters the best.

  7. I would like to make a comment Mr.Brantley did a remarkable interview. If you missed it, Channel 10 had it own last Thursday. I like the goals that he has. Mr.Brantley is for the people, he knows what it is like to put in a hard days work. Someone that owns their owns business, and willing to take own a job as Senator. He can't be in this race for the money,or power. I feel that he wants to be able to help the people in the 8th district. Mr.Brantley you have my vote.
