The bill Glenn Casada and I are running saying election means election (as everyone except the supreme court understands) for judges failed in a tie vote in the house. 7 to 7 with a few non votes.
It is very disappointing to see Republicans, who take an oath of office and otherwise claim to support the Constitution, voting in blatant disregard of the Constitution's plain language. It was not a good day for the Constitution and it was an embarassment to the Republican Party. To quote TN Supreme Court Judge Allison Humphries in his retention election statute dissent, "like Esau they sold their birth right, equality and freedom for a mess of pottage, a cheap easy way to remain in office."
