The "get a clue" bill.

Guess what? if a parent is involved in a child's education and stresses the need for education to the child, the child does better in school, is more likely to graduate high school and attend college. This year we passed a bill allowing parents to grade themselves on how they are doing in 2 schools. I honestly think self evaluations are close to worthless but I hope it is a step to getting some parental involvement in their child's life.

Hopefully in a few years we can start putting some teeth behind legislation like this by doing things like tying actual parental evaluations to receiving government benefits.
